ABOUT ME

JR Taylor grew up knowing that the arts were his calling. While other kids played in the sandbox, Taylor devoured classic movies—from Stormy Weather and Daddy Long Legs, to his all-time favorite, The Wiz.

The Los Angeles native appeared in countless videos during his college years and shared the stage with the hottest artists in the music industry, including Rihanna, Mariah Carey, Beyoncé, Jennifer Hudson, Missy Elliot, Chris Brown. Taylor also made appearances in popular movies such as Dreamgirls, Soul Man and Beauty Shop. Taylor became a highly sought dancer and a socialite, forming relationships with varied accomplished artists.

Taylor seamlessly transitioned into the world of choreography. He began teaching at the world-famous Millennium Dance Complex and Debbie Reynolds Legacy Studios in 2006, where he still teaches regularly to sold-out classes. His fresh and unique style gained him even wider recognition within the industry and caught the attention of some of the world's biggest artists. From Beyoncé, Kelly Rowland and Queen Latifah, to Trey Songz and Nelly, Taylor continues to influence the entertainment world. In 2009, he added Artistic/Creative Director to his title through his work with Jamie Foxx on the Blame It Tour.

In 2011, Taylor was responsible for all things Jennifer Lopez. As J. Lo’s head choreographer, he created the vision for her stage shows, commercials, music videos and choreographed her first, record-breaking world tour, Dance Again. Taylor was nominated for two MTV Video Music Awards for Best Choreography—once in 2012 for J. Lo's Dance Again and again in 2013 for Live It Up. Collaborating with J. Lo afforded Taylor the opportunity to write and produce a song for her most recent album, AKA.

Taylor continues creative direction and choreography for artists on tour, such as Monica, Nelly, Natalie La Rose, Tamar Braxton and, most recently, the legendary girl group, Xscape.
